SYNOPSIS:

Spirit Anderson is a promising high school senior with a knack for English. She often uses her great command of the subject to her advantage in the courtyard when she is rapping, her favorite pastime. However, Spirit finds that it is difficult to pursue both. On top of this, Spirit struggles with the abuse from her father against her and her mother.  where she is witness to her dad's constant abuse against her mom. While Spirit has always seen college as her ticket away from the turmoil at home, she is offered an opportunity that changes her perspective on everything she has worked towards. Spirit must ultimately fight through her fears and forced expectations in order to find the light that leads her onto her own path.
