NYC-headquartered factual producer Big Media has partnered with Mexico/Florida-based prodco BTF Media on a new true-crime series, The Railroad Killer, that has already been licensed by A+E Networks EMEA for the UK.
The 5 x 60-minute series, which is being produced in both English- and Spanish-language versions, covers the life and crimes of Mexico-born serial killer Ángel Maturino Reséndiz (pictured), who evaded detection for much of his decade-plus killing spree by illegally hopping railroad cars on train lines running between and across Mexico, the U.S. and Canada.
Finally identified and slotted at number one on the FBI’s most wanted list, Reséndiz saw his bloody career brought to an end in 1999 when a rookie Texas Ranger, Drew Carter, engineered his surrender by developing a relationship of mutual trust with the killer’s family.
